Melody attended Valdosta State University and obtained her B.A. degree in Political Science, Cum Laude, in 1999. She then continued her education there and earned her M.S. degree in Criminal Justice in 2001. Melody then travelled to Lansing, Michigan and attended Thomas M. Cooley Law School earning her J.D.

While in law school, Melody was hired as a legal assistant at the Augusta Office of the Georgia Legal Services Program. After successfully passing the Georgia State Bar, she became a full time staff attorney there. While on staff, she handled a wide range of civil legal issues such as divorces, temporary protective orders, housing issues, and consumer issues. However, her area of practice was primarily dedicated to dealing with all legal issues dealing with the senior community or those individuals 65 and older. Melody was also with the Augusta Judicial Circuit Public Defender's Office.

Melody has handled hundreds of misdemeanor and felony cases.  As a former public defender, she is experienced in cases ranging from DUI and traffic offenses to even more serious criminal charges. Now Melody is our new attorney here with the Duncan Law Firm. As you can see from the brief description above, she joins us with experience and dedication to defending people. She continues to provide services to the CSRA community by advocating for the rights of the people here.

Melody is currently a member of several organizations including the National College for DUI Defense, the Augusta Conference of African American Attorneys, the Georgia Association of Black Attorneys, and the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.  She is also currently an instructor at a local university.
